t the beginning, the Totengässlein was also called Todgasse (path of death). This name
had already existed before the great earthquake of 1356 because the dead used to be carried
from the area of St. Peters parish to the former cemetery on the square of St. Peters
Church.
Today one can find traditional handcraft shops in the Totengässlein.
