riginally, there was a cemetery between the Prediger Church and the river Rhein, surrounded
by a wall which was decorated with mural paintings on the interior side. A painter of
Konrad Witzs school expressed in his paintings, how death asked all kinds of people
(emperors and beggars) to dance. Such examples clearly show the fears people had during
the plague. However, some people from the neightbourhood have destroyed the wall of the
cemetery because it took away too much light. Thus, these extra ordinary mural paintings
get lost as well, which had given this place its name. Some fragments of the wall can be
looked at in the historical museum.
